Terrence Toh started out as a singer with the Victoria School and Victoria Junior College (VJC) choirs where he honed his choral and rehearsal techniques under the tutelage of Mr. Nelson Kwei. After graduating from VJC, he first tasted life as a conductor by assisting Mr. Kwei at Tanjong Katong Secondary School (TKSS). Thereafter, he was engaged by Chong Boon Secondary School and Junyuan Secondary School as their resident choral director.
In December 2003, Terrence led the choirs from the National University of Singapore (NUS), TKSS, and Ngee Ann Primary School to three Golds, one Gold, and a Silver respectively at the 21st Century International Choral Festival held in Genting, Malaysia. In addition, the impressive showing in the course of the competition culminated in the NUS Choir winning the "Best Interpretation Award" for the competition set piece. Terrence's inspired conducting also led to the adjudicators conferring upon him the "Most Promising Conductor Award", a prestigious award that is at the same time, recognition of his immense potential and achievements thus far.
Terrence has worked with Mr. Kwei as a voice tutor and assistant conductor to the choirs from NUS, TKSS, Commonwealth Secondary School and Ngee Ann Primary School. He also sings with the Victoria Chorale, an alumni branch of the VJC choir. He is furthering his studies in music amidst other commitments, and plans to advance his music education abroad in the near future.
