Yong Chee Foon began his choral singing career when he joined the Victoria Junior College Choir and continued to pursue his interest with the Victoria Chorale upon graduation.

Together with the Victoria Chorale, he has received numerous accolades and medals from numerous bodies at several international competitions, including the Choral Competition in Riva Del Garda, Italy, the Llangollen International Music Eisteddford in Wales and more recently at the Choir Olympics in Bremen, Germany. His passion for singing then led him to pursue an ATCL in Voice from Trinity College London.

Currently Zhihong is the conductor for several choirs and in the last two years, his choirs have also ventured beyond the shores of Singapore to participate international choral festivals. Under his direction, they have obtained Gold and Silver awards at the 2003 21st Century International Choral Festival in Genting, Malaysia, as well as the First Prize for the Youth Category at the North Wales Choral Festival 2004.
